Do you believe in platonic love for food? Well, I do. I have this super crush on Om Nom Nom Cookies for almost an year now. I first saw them in the pictures of packages being sent from the US as part of our international Vegan Package Swap. Since I have first seen that transparent plastic package with that amazing logo and that big and tempting cookie inside it I couldn’t stop wanting to try it! I still haven’t got a pair on Vegan Package Swap able to send me one, but I keep waiting.
And because of all this desire for Om Nom Nom Cookies and seeing them featured in more packages, I’ve decided to contact Anthea Ponsetti, founder and head cookie, to propose her a giveaway to Vegan Package Swap and she has agreed on taking part at our 1 YEAR SPECIAL EDITION giving away one package with a Om Nom Nom official illustration + one mix-and-mach package and two mix-and-match packages to our US swappers!
For a chance to win, all you have to do is to register in the website if you haven’t or JOIN THE SWAP (login in the website between today and tomorrow, March 5th and click on the link “join the swap”) and be an USA resident. Winners will be contacted on March 10th.
Double your chance to win! By joining MARCH edition as a SUPER SWAPPER you will have twice the entries for this giveaway!!
She also took some time, even being sick, to answer a few questions so you can know a little bit more about her and Om Nom Nom Cookies story:
Before talking about Om Nom Nom, let’s talk about Anthea Ponsetti. How was to grow up in a British and Cuban family and in Miami?
Very eclectic to say the least. We would go have Cuban coffee and guava pastries with my grandmother on Saturdays and then on Sundays we have have proper english tea with my mother. I think we got the best of both worlds at least culinary wise!
In your website you’ve said you’ve started baking very early. Do you remember when and what was the first thing you’ve baked?
I remember baking scones as a very young child with my grandmother in England. I must have been 4 or 5 years old.
Besides cookies, which are your favorite goodies to bake and cook?
Cakes! I love a well made delicious cake. Chocolate frosting, vanilla base and something crunchy and gooey in the middle!
And besides baking, what do you do in your day by day?
I manage all other aspects of Om Nom Nom Cookies. From the accounting, to the social media. It’s a never ending job trust me
What has inspired you to go vegan after being vegetarian for so many years?
I think it was more environmental issues that finally made me become 100 % animal free. Seeing the negative impact that conventional animal farming has on our environmental was definitely quite persuasive for me.
Now let’s get into Om Nom Nom. When was it born? How did you get the idea of starting a vegan company?
It was born in the summer of 2011 and it came from my inability to find tasty Vegan treats in and around my community.
Why cookies as your only product?
Because I wanted to focus on one thing and just do it really really well.
Do you have a best seller?
The Orange Zested Chocolate Chip definitely.
Do you have many non-vegan customers? How’s the feedback from them in general?
I get people that arent Vegan telling me that they cant believe the cookies are Vegan. From kids to older people, to Vegans and non-Vegans alike we cater to everyone.
Om Nom Nom is an amazing name and your logo is pretty good as well. How did you come up with the name and how was the creative process with Edwin Reginald Beauchamp, Om Nom Nom’s Art Director, to come up with the company’s logo?
The creative process was amazing seeing as Edwin and I have have very similar aesthetics. It’s always great working with like minded people. The name my sister Amy helped me come up with. It’s what the cookie monster says while he devours his cookies… pretty perfect for a cookie company
What are your plans to the future of Om Nom Nom?
I plan on going National. We are currently seeking outside investors to help make the second stage of our company’s life as fruitful and happy as the first
