Haven’t you heard about Cocofina yet? Our new contributor Emma Potts, author of the amazing website Coconut and Berries, have reviewed their products:
Coconut products are all the rage these days, and rightly so. Not only are they delicious but they’re extremely good for us too.
Cocofina is a company which is fairly new to me but has actually been around since 2005 with their coconut water, which is the leading brand in Europe and distributed by all of the top health food distributors.
You can imagine this coconut-loving girl’s delight on discovering that they’ve branched out from coconut water to other coconut products!
Because of its combination of electrolytes, coconut water is considered to be a good, natural alternative to sports drinks. I also really like the taste! It’s super refreshing and is slightly sweet so works wonderfully in smoothies.
Cocofina’s coconut water is available in different sizes, 1 litre cartons for storing in the fridge, or mini cartons and bottles for sipping on the go.
Coconut oil is a staple in my kitchen. Long avoided because it was thought to be a source of harmful saturated fats, research is now showing that coconut oil may actually be a source of healthy fats, along with being a versatile ingredient that has dozens of uses.
Because coconut oil is solid at room temperature, it makes a great substitute for butter. I use it in my baking, in raw desserts and as an all-purpose cooking oil for anything from sautéing onions to roasting veg.
Cocofina’s is raw, organic, extra-virgin and cold-pressed retaining all that coconutty goodness!
Coconut nectar is the latest coconut product on the market so unfortunately it’s not that widely available in the UK. It’s definitely one to add to your pantry though as it’s a fantastic alternative to refined sugars and sweeteners.
It doesn’t taste much like coconut but rather a mildly sweet syrup with some extra depth, almost honey-like. I love it drizzled on pancakes or non-dairy yogurt, in baking or even just spread on toast.
The final product Cocofina offer is these coconut and date snack bars. A handy little snack to pop in your bag and have on hand, a healthy whole foods source of energy, and tasty too! The only ingredients are dates, raisins, coconut and oats- no nasties in here.
