For a vegan foodie like myself, there is nothing quite like getting a monthly box of vegan snacks in the mail. Vegan Cuts sends several products in each box to sample, ranging from chips and candy, to soda and tea. I love them because it allows me to try new products without committing to buying something I may not like. No matter what’s in the box, it’s always exciting to open it.
Items included in October’s box were: Pop Art Rosemary Truffle Gourmet Popcorn, TCHO Dark Chocolate, Tasty Brand Organic Smoothie Fruit Snacks, Flamous Organic Sprouted Muligrain Zatar Chips, MRM Veggie Elite Protein, Coconut Organics’ Dark Chocolate Coconut Chips, Numi Organic Teas in Chocolate Spice Black and Chocolate Rooibos, Luv You PB&J Bar, and Zevia Soda in Cola.
The first item I was drawn to was the Rosemary Truffle Popcorn from Pop Art. As a self-proclaimed popcorn aficionado, I was excited but skeptical. While I love both rosemary and truffle oil, I’ve never had good luck with bagged popcorn. In my experience, it is almost always stale. However, much to my surprise this popcorn did not disappoint. It was perfectly crispy and light, and had the right amount of seasoning.
Another item I really liked was the Flamous Organic Sprouted Multigrain Zatar Chips. They were light and crispy, but had a nice texture from the multigrain. Paired with my favorite hummus, they were the perfect after-work snack to take the edge off my hunger.
The item that really blew me away though was the Luv You PB&J Bar. I read the ingredients: organic peanuts, organic raisins, and Pink Himalayan sea salt. Ok, only three ingredients, so that’s a plus. Sounds rather underwhelming though, but maybe it will make a good pre-yoga snack. So into the backpack it goes. After work, I take it out of my bag to fuel up before class. I take a bite. And another. And another. Oh man, this thing is good. Slightly sweet, slightly salty, and filling enough to give me the energy I need for my intense power yoga class. I will absolutely be hunting these bad boys down.
I was the least impressed by the Zevia Cola. Even putting aside the fact I’m not a soda drinker, this was not good. It had a very artificial tasted to me, not unlike diet cola. If you’re a diet soda addict, this may be a good healthier (or at least less unhealthy) alternative, but this was definitely not for me.
Both Numi teas were wonderful with a little milk and hint of sweetener. They were rich and chocolately without the guilt of having hot chocolate. I enjoyed these while curled up under a blanket with a good book.
Overall, I enjoyed the Vegan Cuts Snack Box very much and highly recommend it. It introduced me to new things I’ve either never seen or never thought to pick up at the store. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on more.
