There’s a misconception that adhering to a specialized diet means having to eat the same bland food at every meal, every day for the rest of your life. People think this especially about the vegan diet and lifestyle, because it seems to be so restricting. However, because of the movement’s growth, and because more and more chefs have started experimenting with vegan products, we’re now at the point where vegan recipes are never hard to come by. You may have already amassed quite the collection of recipes yourself!
But just because you have the recipes doesn’t always mean you know what to do with them. Meal planning is a completely different thing, and there is such a thing as having too many choices. Got your hands on plenty of vegan recipes but don’t know where to start? Make things much easier by playing a game of Vegan Menu Bingo!
Bingo may seem like an odd choice, but the game is as versatile as it is popular. All over the world, the game is gaining traction and proving to be a fun pastime. In Chicago, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan held bingo nights at his tea shop, Madame ZuZu’s, in Oregon, a vegan falafel house made bingo nights a staple throughout 2014, and in the UK, where online bingo is a $557-million industry, even sportsbooker Betfair has been unable to resist the urge to enter the fray, launching a bingo site in 2013. Bingo has been used for everything from workouts to bridal showers, and you can use it to plan your meals too.
The game is much easier to play if you’ve already got a collection of recipes, but don’t worry if you don’t, because All About Vegan Food should have everything you could need. To start, list down five recipes for each of the following categories: Breakfast, Snack 1, Lunch, Snack 2, and Dinner. You can switch these categories up depending on how many meals you usually have, but if you work out a lot, you can take a page from No Meat Athlete’s book and eat small frequent meals to make sure you remain energized throughout the day. Once you’ve got your list of recipes, head on over to a free bingo card generator like Print-Bingo.com to turn your list into an easy bingo card.
Print out your bingo card and number the items on each category from 1-5, and at the start of each day, roll a die for each category, marking the recipe that corresponds to the number you rolled. If you happened to roll a 6, you can either roll again or just pick freely from the items on the list. Do this for each category until you’ve selected one recipe for each meal of the day. Take down the recipes, and start rolling again, and do this for each day of the week. By the end of the game, you’ll have a complete meal plan for the week!
Vegan Menu Bingo is a great way to make easy meal plans, as well as experiment with recipes that you might not be familiar with. It takes the difficulty out of choosing recipes and makes it so you might even find your new favorite recipes!
