Vegan meat is not everyone’s cup of tea and personally I don’t consume them very often but I always try and have them in the house as a treat. I’ve always been impressed by the options available in the USA and Europe, or at least Ireland, doesn’t offer that many options.
Until last year most of our options would come from the UK or other countries but last year I was contacted by the lovely Irish couple Ais and Gav about their new adventure, Moodley Manor. They were about to launch the first vegan bacon produced in Ireland and other meat alternatives for vegans. I followed their Twitter from the beginning and got excited about the products they were developing.
I’ve seen in their Facebook page that between May and December 2015 they delivered over 25,000 vegan meals and that’s very impressive. These guys work hard and made their products available not just online or in health shops but also in big supermarkets in Ireland.
So by the end of the year they sent me the products: Boss Burgers, Savage Sausage and Badass Bacon. After that I ordered their Moodle’ys Christmas Roast. I have to confess I’m hooked. I love their packing and all products are delicious. I have to say that their products are soy based, so not everyone’s first choice in general, but my choice now for vegan meat in Ireland.
The first Moodley’s product I tried were the sausages. My son loves vegan sausages so I included them in our meal. They’re well seasoned and quick to prepare. And although I’m a big fan of hotdog style sausages I enjoyed its texture too. It goes perfectly with many meals and I want to have them again for a vegan Irish breakfast.
After I prepared the burger and the bacon for a massive sandwich for a hungry and tired mama, myself. Both were delicious but I have to say that the bacon got me. Bacon isn’t something that is popular in Brazil as it is the USA but I was very curious about it. I fried both with a small amount of sunflower oil. The bacon comes up crispy and it’s really tasty. It is a badass bacon and I had to hold myself to not eat the whole package in one night! The Boss Burger is very good too, just too thick for my taste.
And finally the holidays were here and I couldn’t wait to try the roast! “This is beautifully rich and indulgent experience everyone will love” is the description in their website and it does delivery the promise. Moodley’s artisan roast is rich, soft, beautifully stuffed, delicious and was loved by vegans and non vegans. It’s massive so I also shared with friends!
I’m very excited to now be one more Moodley’s consumer in Ireland and to support a local vegan business. Their hard work pays off and I wish them all the success they can get and that soon their products will be available outside the country too.
And to make sure that at least one of our readers in Ireland get to try Moodley Manor products we have a GIVEAWAY! Good luck!
